Monday, 20 September 2011: The rail industry players had a fruitful discussion at the Scenario Planning Workshop taken place in Dialogue Room at MIGHT Building recently.
The session was organised by MIGHT to create a better path for railway industry in facing future complexity and unpredictability of economic, social and political environments.
In its second part of the roadmap development, the workshop was attended by 40 industry leaders from various organisations to discuss and build future scenarios for the Malaysian rail industry. Participants managed to put their ideas into perspective while reviewing the drivers and trends as well as to construct the future scenario. The workshop adopted Foresight methodology as tools for scenario planning. There were four (4) scenarios developed from five (5) key drivers identified namely (D-1) Policy & Institutional Framework, (D-2) Human Capital & Technology Development, (D-3) Multimodal/Integrated Transport, (D-4) Market Competition & Value Added Product/Service and (D-7) Localisation & Globalisation. The selected key drivers is believed to give the greatest impact which inter link with one another in order to boost the industry competitiveness, sustainability and the future development. Workshop participants did also shared about the causes and effects from each of the scenarios developed.
