The foresight team presented a paper entitled “Getting Malaysians to Systematically Look into the Future” at the 4th International Seville Conference on Future-Oriented Technology Analysis (FTA) which held on 12 & 13 May 2011 in Seville, Spain.
The conference focuses on the need and potential of FTA to address disruptive transformations in response to grand societal challenges. The event is held in high esteem by the EU S&T community were graced by the presence of amongst others, Mr. Jorma Ollila, Chairman of Nokia and parliament representatives of the EU.
FTA Serville is held once every two years, with mission to provide customer-driven support for EU policy-making process by developing science-based responses to policy challenges that have both a socio-economic as well as scientific/technological dimension. The conference is organised by a non-profit organisation, Institute for Prospective Technological Studies (IPTS) which is one of the seven (7) institutes of the Joint Research Council (JRC) of the European Commission. Malaysia’s participation in this conference marks its presence as well as extensive networking exposure in the global Foresight community.
